Global Travel Investments Ltd (GTI) is the organizer of the event, and the inaugural forum will be co-hosted by Pulkovo International St. Petersburg Airport, one of Russia’s busiest and Europe’s most rapidly growing airports. Over 200 high level delegates are expected in St. Petersburg, including: representatives of airlines and airports, civil aviation authorities, leaders of national and transnational organizations, national delegations, aviation and tourism bodies, infrastructure providers, banks and developers, consultants and others.
The agenda will include two key tracks: a daylong high-level economic summit followed by face-to-face meetings between airlines, airports, and tourism authorities.

The First Annual Belt and Road Aviation Forum, ‘Silk Sky’ is launched
October 2019 will see Saint Petersburg in Russia host the first ‘Silk Sky,’ a major new aviation initiative to deliver new flight links, services and hubs across Eurasia.
Silk Sky is a unique new air transport forum and networking event (which will now take place annually) adding significant value to the present ‘Belt and Road’ strategy linking Asia, Central Asia, Russia and Europe. To date, the initiative has focused on developing surface and sea transport links to stimulate economic development across the Belt and Road. Silk Sky will deliver civil aviation as a critical third element in the transport mix. The first event will be hosted by Pulkovo International St. Petersburg Airport, one of Europe’s most rapidly growing and Russia’s busiest airports in terms of traffic numbers.
GTI are expecting airlines, airports, business leaders, investors, economic development agencies, alongside tourism partners, to participate in ‘Silk Sky’, attending a high level economic summit followed by networking between airlines and airports. We expect a wide number of Tourism authorities and economic development representatives will attend to strengthen the case for new routes and air services.
Sallyanne Collins, the Managing Director for GTI events revealed:
“Silk Sky 2019 will provide an exclusive networking opportunity for airlines, airports, major economic, tourism and trade organisations on the Belt and Road, to discuss new business opportunities. We are proud to work alongside Northern Capital Gateway ‘’Pulkovo International Airport’’ to launch the inaugural Annual Aviation and Tourism Forum ‘’Silk Sky’’ in the incredible city of Saint Petersburg.
